Panasonic SR-TMB10 Rice Cooker

panasonic sr-tmb10

Price Range: Moderate

Rice Quality: Good

Benefits & Features: Several

Performance: Good

Pros -vs- Cons: Balanced

Overall Rating: Good

To start off this review, when we first researched and analyzed all of the features & benefits, we were sure that this cooker was going to receive a "Good" rating! Which it does.

At the time of this writing, it has earned a 4 Star overall rating on Amazon's customer reviews.

However, during a little more research we have come across some minor complaints, several about this unit having too many plastic parts. People liked its overall performance (minus the keep warm function) but hated the fact that plastic comes in contact with the food. But those two cons are not enough to drop this model down to a "Fair" rating.

They are just some things we figured we should mention to folks considering this unit, and do keep in mind that there are many rice cookers that use plastic steaming trays and/or inner lids.

Cooks Rice, Steams & Slow Cooks

Aside from a mediocre keep warm feature and plastic parts, this cooker does a good job at cooking white rice, as well as good quality brown, mixed, & sushi rice.

Like other micro-computerized units, the Panasonic SR-TMB10 rice cooker features an easy to operate digital interface with a LCD menu screen and soft touch buttons. Scrolling through the menu is not complicated and is pretty straightforward when selecting rice types.

And speaking of settings, the SR-TMB10 not only cooks rice, but can steam vegetables, eggs, poultry, and seafood as well as slow cooking stews, soups, and sauce.

We have also received a majority of positive feedback on the quality and performance of the slow cooking benefit this Panasonic SR-TMB10 unit offers.

In the end, it comes down to the pros and cons…here is what we found.

Pros

  • space saving design & modern look
  • easy to use and clean
  • offers multiple rice settings
  • steams food and slow cooks
  • clutter-free retractable cord for easy transport and storing

  • Cons

  • too many plastic parts make the unit feel "cheap"
  • slow cooking feature great idea but bowl size only ideal for 2 people
  • keep warm mode not suitable for keeping rice
  • some state inner lid design drips excess condensation on rice

Now despite all of the convenient benefits and features this cooker offers, for the money there may be better units available when comparing such benefits and features.

As we always mention when giving a model a"Good" rating, purchasing such a unit like this one is not a very bad choice...but we just like to bring to folks' attention some better choices since they will be spending good money.
