The Tayama TRC-03 although currently holding on to a 3 Star rating on Amazon's Customer review feedback is a neat little and easy to use rice cooker that comes with a low price tag.
While it is true this is not the best choice for top quality brown rice, it will do a decent job cooking it and have you eating in under half an hour.
However this Tayama 4 cup rice cooker is more recommended (and will benefit) folks who mainly prepare white rice since it does not have Fuzzy Logic technology on board or advanced specific rice settings. The basic "rapid boil" method this unit uses works best with regular rice and does just as good a job as normal stove top cooking.
When the white rice is done, the cooker will automatically switch into a keep warm mode holding the rice at a ready to eat temperature as well as allowing it to develop a fluffier and more flavorful texture due to its air-tight lid.
Easy Clean Up
When it is time for cleaning, the Xylan-coated non-stick inner bowl removes with ease and allows excess rice and rice starch to wash away without much hassle. Just be sure to use warm water, mild soap, and most importantly a soft non-abrasive sponge.
The basic silver/white and flower pattern should fit the decor of most kitchens and appeal to most people's taste. The Tayama TRC-03 is also very compact measuring no more than 10 inches which is perfect for keeping on the counter top next to the blender or toaster.
Should folks wish to store the rice cooker, the power cord is detachable making it a tad more convenient.

About the Xylan coating, we have done a little research since we are not familiar with this non-stick material for use in rice cookers and wanted to check if there were any health hazards. So far we did not come up with anything useful or factual therefore we cannot give the "green light" on it.
This coating does differ from Teflon and appears to be a lighter/clearer coating. For folks who have this unit or have more knowledge on this Xylan material, please share it with us so that we may update this page.
All-in-all the Tayama TRC-03 4 cup rice cooker is another fair buy and should be quite fitting for folks who do not do a lot of daily rice cooking, but instead want a simple to use unit for the occasional times that they do.
And there is a good chance your guests will inquire on what that neat little round appliance sitting on your counter top is!
