The Tiger JAZ rice steamer cookers are very similar to the long lasting and popular JNP series in terms of style, design, performance, and the one lever ease of use. The additional benefit they add is a steaming feature that allows folks to prepare healthy steamed food while the rice is cooking! We are not sure about the overall durable when compared to the JNP models, but since it is a Tiger brand rice cooker, we would expect these units to last a while. The Tiger JAZ cookers currently come in two different cup capacities, a 5.5 cup and a 10 cup, that prepare up to approximately 16 to 30 cups of cooked white rice. The rice quality is of an average standard when making either white rice or brown rice (a little more trial and error with brown), but during our research we have gathered feedback of rice crusting issues that occur on the bottom layer of the batch once completed. However, this is no major concern, and is quite common with most, if not all non Fuzzy Logic rice cookers and the crusting remains more on the mild side. On a positive side, one thing folks do not have to deal with is messy starchy boil over issues that sometimes happen with cheaper units thanks to the air tight sealed lid and better steam vent design on these JAZ cookers.
What's in the Box? Included with the Tiger JAZ rice cooker is a non stick bowl, rice paddle with side holder that attaches to the unit, a measuring cup, steam tray, and manual. Currently, both models only come in the floral print design.

As mentioned, this is not a Fuzzy Logic rice cooker (no internal monitoring computer) and instead uses a simple "rapid boil style" method for cooking rice. A sensor will detect when there is little water left and switch the unit into a keep warm mode that will hold the rice at a moist, ready to serve temperature. On average, a batch of rice is complete in under 25 minutes depending on amount added. To conclude, the Tiger JAZ cookers are a good buy and receive a Good rating from us. They may not be the best rice cookers for the money, but do offer that convenient additional steaming feature that we always fancy!
